Bkav is a technology corporation that specializes in cyber security, software, e-government, smartphone manufacturing and smart electronic devices. Bkav is among the Top 10 of Vietnam’s best-known brands chosen by Vietnam Intellectual Property Association, and among the Top 10 providing best services chosen by Vietnam Standard and Consumers Association.
Bkav is the first company in the world to discover the vulnerability in facial recognition technology on laptops when this technology started to become popular. Facial recognition was assessed to be highly accurate, and had been deployed in products of global technology companies like Toshiba, Lenovo, Asus, etc.
Bkav discovered the first critical flaw in Google Chrome just days after its launch in 2008. Today, Google Chrome has become the most popular web browser in the world.
Bkav is also the firm to trace the master server in Britain of unprecedentedly massive DDoS attacks targeting US and Korean governments’ websites in July, 2009. This is one of the biggest attacks in the history of cyber security and has been written out in a chapter of the famous book “Inside Cyber Warfare: Mapping the Cyber Underworld” (O ‘Reilly).
Besides, Bkav is also the first company to find the vulnerability in Face ID in iPhone X, only 2 weeks after this smartphone officially went on sale (11/2017). Face ID was boasted by Apple as its breakthrough technology in iPhone X. Bkav’s discovery attracted hundreds of big international news organizations. Especially, the photo of the mask made by Bkav to bypass Face ID in iPhone X was chosen by Reuters to be among the images of that week. Previously, Bkav discovered a hole in iris recognition technology on Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones.
Bkav is the organizer of WhiteHat Grand Prix competition, which has great reputation among cyber security community in the world. The annual competitions attract a lot of teams on top of CTF Times.
Bkav is the pioneer with the mission to build Vietnam’s smartphone manufacturing industry. The launch events of Bphone 1 (2015) and Bphone 2 (2017) were both voted as outstanding technology events of the year. December 2018, Bphone was voted as the most favoured mid-range smartphone by the audience of prestigious technology review channels. At the same time, Bphone won the Best Vietnamese Phone award in Tech Awards 2018 organized by VnExpress – the most read Vietnamese newspaper.
Bkav is the first company in Vietnam to be a Cool Vendor in the global’s emerging markets chosen by Gartner.
In many years, Bkav’s antivirus has been honored as “Users’ favorite information security product”, while the company has continually won Cups for outstanding Vietnamese brands. Bkav antivirus software dominates the domestic market, chosen by up to 73.95% businesses. (According to businesses’ favorite software brands ranking by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
The founder, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quang, is now the company’s Chairman and CEO. He was among Outstanding Vietnamese Young Faces of 1998, selected by the community and eChip Magazine to be the IT Knight in 2003. In 2012, he was honored as the pioneer laying the foundation for Vietnam’s cyber security (the vote was organized by VnExpress). CEO Nguyen Tu Quang is also one of the ten Vietnamese ICT Faces of the decade (2000-2010). In 2010, he was selected by Vietnam Internet Association as one of the 10 influential invidiuals for Vietnam Internet in a decade (2007-2017).
